Representing FUSD employees for over 30 years
On December 8th a "thank you" dinner was held at the Fontana Breakfast Lions Club
to honor those who donated cash or toys to the annual Toys for Tots campaign.
Our President Richard Bruce and others were on hand to deliver the toys
collected at the Union Hall. A plaque was given to Local 8599 commemorating our
participation in this years event.
What a fantastic experience it was at the Relay for Life on May 15th and
16th. The Miracle Makers (Local 8599) booths sold popcorn and turtle
necklaces and added over $100 more to the total raised! According to event
coordinator Janie Burgo over $59,000 was raised to fight against cancer.
Thanks to all of the 52 teams who participated, and special thanks to the
USW members on those teams.

Two rummage and bake sales were held in August  to benefit Sylvia Cervantes, a steelworker in Special
Services who has been stricken with breast cancer. Sylvia's case has been transferred to City of Hope Hospital,
resulting in a cost of $1,000. The goal of the volunteers and Local 8599 was to raise the whole $1000.
WE DID IT! The total sales for the two days was OVER $1050 !!!
Congratulations and deep gratitude to all the volunteers, which included Steelworkers, FTA, and Administrators.
